A lifelong Kent resident, he has been the owner and President of Bissler & Sons Funeral Home since 1988. Rick is a 1972 graduate of Kent Roosevelt High School and a 1976 University of Minnesota graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Mortuary Science. He received both his Funeral Directors and Embalmers license in 1976. In 1995, he became a Certified Crematory Operator through the Cremation Association of America (CANA). Rick and his wife, Jane, have 2 daughters, Stephanie (Shawn) Arden and Carlie Bissler.
He is a member of numerous civic organizations including: Kent Rotary Club, PARTA Board Member, and Kent Free Library Board Member. He is also a Board Member of Home Savings Bank, currently serving as Chairman of the Audit Committee.
A resident of Brimfield, Tim is a 1985 graduate of Morehead State University with a B.S. in Biology. He received his A.S. in Mortuary Science from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1991.
Tim is a member of the Ohio Embalmers Association and is a certified Crematory Operator. He attends Lake Brady United Methodist Church. In his spare time, Tim enjoys skiing, trapshooting and hunting. Tim and his wife Chris have 2 daughters, Natalie and Miranda
A resident of Kent, former resident of Dover, Ohio, Julie is a 2000 graduate of Kent State University with a B.A. in Business Management. She received her degree in Specialized Technology in 2001 from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. She became state licensed as a funeral director and embalmer in 2001.
Julie is a member of the Ohio Embalmer Association. She has her license in pre-need sales. Julie enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling with her daughter Lillian.
A long-time resident of Kent, Marcy is a graduate of Kent State University with a B.A. in Communications. Marcy is very involved with youth sports, coaching, and attends Christ Community Chapel. Marcy enjoys running, exercising, traveling, coaching softball, watching her children play sports, and spending time with her family - laughing and having fun. Marcy and her husband Jeff have two children, Zachary and Sadie.
Marcy loves her job and enjoys meeting new people, and finds it rewarding helping families during such a difficult time.
DeAnna Reed lives in Garrettsville with her husband, Dave, on a small farm. DeAnna graduated from James A. Garfield High School in Garrettsville.
She is very proud of her three children. Her boys Kenny and Eddie both serve with the United States Coast Guard and her daughter, Tami, is a cosmetologist, and is married to John, who also services with the United States Coast Guard. Tami and John have two boys, Joshua and Jackson. DeAnna and Dave love spending time with their children and grandchildren, working on their farm and tending to their horses and dogs.
Kenny started working for Bissler’s in 1984. He spent much of his life working for Coffelt’s Candy Company running taffy and fudge shops. He loves aviation and enjoys woodworking and tinkering in his shop. Kenny’s wife, Tammy, enjoys singing in her church choir. He is currently working part time.
A lifelong resident of Kent, Jane has a Master of Education degree in community counseling and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Kent State University. She is a licensed professional clinical counselor at Counseling for Wellness and is a fellow in thanatology by the Association of Death Education and Counseling. Jane publishes a weekly newspaper column addressing issues regarding grief and loss for adults and children.
She also maintains a web site, Counseling for Loss, which focuses on grief issues. She also enjoyed teaching in the master's level community counseling program at Kent State University. She is a member of both ADEC and the ACA, and she enjoys reading in her spare time. Jane and her husband Rick have 2 children, Stephanie and Carlie.
A native of Massillon, Pierce is a 2013 graduate from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science with a B.S. in Mortuary Science. An avid Cleveland and Ohio State sports fan and most spare time found catching up on the teams, enjoys running, all alongside his wife Jenni.
