Cecilia Messino Obituary
Cecilia (Mendiola) Messino, of Kent, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on July 9, 2018. She was born July 8, 1925, to the late Nicola and Michelina Mendiola. She graduated from Ravenna High School and was a graduate of St. Thomas School of Nursing. She was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and devoted to caring for her family.
In addition to her parents, Cecilia was preceded in death by her husband Steve, daughter, Susan, brother and sister-in-law John and Bernice Mendiola, father and mother-in-law, Giuseppe and Anna Messino and sister-in-law Josephine Lawrence. Survivors include sons, Dr. Michael (Chris) Messino of Fletcher, NC; Matt (Jeanette) Messino of Stow; Mark (Sue) Messino of Cambridge, OH and daughter Ann Marie of Kent, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Calling hours will take place on Thursday, July 12, 2018, from 5 to 8 PM at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 West Main Street, Kent, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 13, 2018, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kent with Father Richard Pentello officiating. Burial will follow at Standing Rock Cemetery.
The family would especially like to thank Home Instead for their wonderful care and compassion for our loved one over the past several years, (especially Venus, Sandy, Nancy, Penny, and Shirley), and Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care of Green.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Patrick Church Memorial Fund, St. Patrick Church, 313 N. Depeyster St., Kent, OH 44240.
