Rita Loftin Obituary
Rita S. Loftin, 97, of Kent, passed away Friday, July 13, 2018, at her home in Kent.
She was born June 24, 1921 in Kent, to the late Thomas A. Tompkins and Lucille B. (Marble) Tompkins. She retired as a Dispatcher for the City of Kent after many years of service.
She is survived by her sons: Leonard (Monica) Loftin of Warren, and Lowell Loftin of Kent; granddaughters, Riajo B. Loftin of Akron, and Shawntay Loftin of Kent; great grandchildren, RaQuel Loftin of Kent, Nduka Awanna of Akron, and Nigel Loftin of Akron; brother-in-law, Donald Laura Loftin; sister-in-laws, Jewel Loftin and Minnie Tompkins; devoted nieces, Jennifer Miller and Melanie Loftin, her faithful caretakers. She leaves a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Loftin, and 7 brothers and sisters.
Calling hours will be held 4-6 PM Thursday, July 19 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, OH. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, July 20 at St. Patrick Church with Father Richard Pentello officiating. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the Kent Police, and EMS departments, and UH hospice.
