Richard Harrick Obituary

Richard D. "Dick" Harrick was born May 31, 1927 to George R. and Mary (Runkel) Harrick in Holliday Cove (Weirton) West Virginia. He attended St. Paul Elementary School in Weirton and graduated from Warren G Harding High School in Warren, Ohio. He served in the U S Navy at the end of World War II.

He graduated from Kent State University in the Fall of 1949 with Bachelor of Science Degrees, and also completed substantial Graduate work at the university.

Dick worked for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Chemical Division for 35 years, where he held several laboratory and administrative positions. During that time, he was an active member of the American Chemical Society and the American Society for Quality (American Society for Quality Control).

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and the "Love of His Life" Rosemary (Derr) Harrick, to whom he was married for a blissful 58 years. They were married September 5, 1953 at St. Patrick Church, Kent, Ohio by Father Alan Simpson. Dick and Rosemary were animal lovers with a special fondness for cats of which they had many over their 58 years. Dick is survived by many cousins and friends.

Dick was very active in recent decades with the St. Patrick Church Ministry that took the Eucharist to parishioners and others at several area nursing homes each week with a Communion Prayer Service. He also worked on the Meals on Wheels Program for many years. He will be missed dearly by all those he touched over those years.
