Amelia Ann Daunis, affectionately known to her family and friends as “Mimi,” passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, in Ravenna, Ohio.
She was born on September 27, 1942, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and later made her home in Boardman, Ohio, where she built a life centered around love, family, and service to others.
After graduating high school, Amelia proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, demonstrating the strength, courage, and determination that would define her throughout her life. She later dedicated herself to being a homemaker, creating a warm and loving home for her family.
Amelia was a woman of many talents and passions. She loved cooking and was especially known for her signature dish, “slumgully,” which became a favorite family tradition. She also enjoyed canning, painting, and quilt making, always creating something meaningful with her hands and heart.
Above all else, Amelia cherished her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took great joy in watching her grandsons play football and participate in sports. Her family was her greatest pride and happiness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Opal Pearl Davis and John Daunis, as well as her beloved grandson, Delsean Peterman.
She leaves behind her loving children, John DeGutis, Jacqueline DeGutis, and Jeanne-Michelle Bridges; her cherished grandchildren, Darrell Peterman Jr. and Dale Peterman Sr.; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Dale Peterman Jr., Adira Peterman, Aiden Womack, Ariah Peterman, and Nina and Nonni Peterman. Grandson Tommy Bridges and granddaughter Ella Maio.
Amelia will be remembered for her strength, creativity, warmth, and the unconditional love she gave so freely to those around her. Her memory will live on in the traditions she created, the lessons she shared, and the countless lives she touched.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
