Bruce Hamilton Moore

Bruce Hamilton Moore, age 97, a forty-year resident of The Pines in Kent, Ohio, died in Hospice care in North Carolina May 18, 2025. He had been living in Ocean Isle Beach, NC for a short time.

Bruce was born on February 10, 1928, to Bonner and Lillie Mae Moore in Akron, Ohio. He married Gay (Burgess) in 1947. They enjoyed a seventy-year marriage.

Bruce graduated from The University of Akron in 1947 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Then he joined the United States Air Force where he served as an engineer at Lowry AFB in Colorado and Eglin AFB in Florida. Following his time in the Air Force, Bruce and his family returned to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and he began his business career at Morse Controls in Hudson. The family moved to Hudson in 1959 where Bruce was eventually promoted to vice president of Morse Controls. In 1970, Bruce and Gay moved to Basildon, Essex, England after he accepted a position as managing director of Teleflex Ltd. He returned to Kent, Ohio in 1974 and started his own company, Felsted Inc. He sold the company but continued to work for Eaton after they purchased Felsted.

At age 97, Bruce was proud to be given the rare 75-year award by the Grand Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio. Over the years, he and Gay were members of several churches. The last church where they were members was Kent United Church of Christ.

When not working, Bruce loved boating with family and friends. Over time, he owned several boats and was most proud of the Demerara. He and Gay enjoyed hosting family and friends at their home for all occasions, especially holidays.

He was predeceased by his wife, Gay, and his son, David. He is survived by his son, Greg (Judi) of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; daughter-in-law, Becky Moore of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and grandchildren, Sarah Moore Johnson (Jay), Laura Moore Gallagher (David), Megan Moore Clark and Matt Moore (Sarah); and four great grandchildren, Luke Johnson, Lauren Johnson, David Gallagher and Emi Moore.

Calling hours will be held 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM Monday, June 2, 2025 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W. Main St. Kent, Ohio 44240. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 12:30 PM. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
