Catherine L. Miles

Catherine Miles, 99 of Kent, passed away on Thursday June 19, 2025. Catherine was born on November 26, 1925, in Elkins, West Virginia to her late parents Commodore Perry Stalnaker and Agnes Stalnaker (Jaggie). She was a Cosmetology teacher at Brooklyn High School in Brooklyn, Ohio and a long-time member of Holy Family Church in Parma, Ohio. She joined Holy Family Church in Stow, Ohio when she moved to Kent in 2020.

In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her first husband, Eual Miles; her second husband, Charles Hudio; daughter, Rita Jane Miles; six brothers, Joseph, Henry, Francis, Eugene, Michael and Commodore Perry Jr.; and three sisters, Mary, Virginia and Elizabeth.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Heiss and her husband Kenneth; son, Roger and his wife Linda; grandson, Jason and his wife Karly; granddaughter, Melissa and her husband Michael; granddaughter, Michelle and her husband Matthew; grandson, David and his wife Laura; and great-grandchildren, Jenson, Grant, Michael, Alexandria, and Daisy.

Visitation and viewing will be held 12 P.M. THURSDAY June 26th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240. Funeral service will begin at 1 P.M. and will be officiated by Rev. Fr. Felix Silagan, Parochial Vicar at Holy Family Parish. Catherine will be laid to rest at St. Brendan’s Cemetery in Elkins, WV at 1 P.M. on TUESDAY July 1st, 2025. Rev. Fr. Jim O’Connor, Pastor of St. Brendan’s Parish, will officiate the committal service.
