It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Colleen Reaman (Deagan) after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was a lifelong resident of the Akron area. Colleen spent her life making a lasting impact in the lives and communities around her.
A proud graduate of St. Vincent High School and an attendee of The University of Akron, Colleen lived a life defined by compassion, creativity, and service. A gifted artist and designer, her talents brought beauty and inspiration to everything she touched. She was a humanitarian at heart—always giving, always present, always helping.
Throughout her life, Colleen was a constant source of light, love and grace. She shared over 51 beautiful years of marriage with her soulmate and husband, Mark, creating a lifetime of memories, including cherished cabin and beach vacations, sisters’ gatherings, cousin trips and as a founding member of “Club.”
Her empathy for others guided her employment and volunteer work. This included involvement in PTO and school athletics to countless hours given to places like the Hower House in Akron, the Junior Women’s Civic Club (JWCC), DLM Foodbank and a NICU cuddler at Akron Children’s Hospital—right up until her health no longer allowed. In her final role, she served as Program Director at the Freedom House in Kent, where she provided transitional support and care to military veterans.
Colleen’s kindness was matched only by her inner strength. Her warmth, imagination, and unwavering belief in the goodness of people touched everyone lucky enough to know her. She left the world better than she found it.
She is survived by her dedicated husband, children, grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family, and a circle of friends who became family. Her presence was a blessing; her absence will be deeply felt.
In honoring her life, let us strive to carry forward her legacy of love, beauty, and service.
