Donald Ray Goodhart, 79, of Kent, peacefully passed away on March 24, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Ravenna and raised in Kent, Don was a proud graduate of Kent Roosevelt High School class of 1965. Don served his country with honor in the U.S. Army and was a proud Vietnam veteran - a role he carried with quiet dignity throughout his life. He had a long and dedicated career with Goodyear, where he worked for 40+ years.
A man of deep faith, Don was a devoted member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kent and a member of the Knights of Columbus. His faith, integrity, and love for family guided all that he did.
In 1968, Don married the love of his life, “the lovely Mrs. Goodhart” and together they built a life filled with laughter, family, and friendship. He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia; their children Jennifer McClintock (husband Keith), Kerri Goodhart (fiancé Mark Nestor), and Lauri Carter (husband Mark); and grandchildren Harper Carter, Corrine McClintock, Scout Carter, Grace Rodich, and Claire Rodich — all of whom were the joy of his life.
Don was predeceased by his grandparents, Earl and Gertrude Goodhart, who lovingly raised him; his father Louis Goodhart; mother Sarah Kratz; brothers Louie and Larry Goodhart; sister Susan Gale; and in-laws Fisher Bill and Kathryn Roberts.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Don’s life at a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 313 N. Depeyster St. Kent, OH 44240. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240.
Don’s steadfast love, playful humor, and unwavering devotion to his family will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. His was a life well-lived, and he will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
