Donald Richard Toth

Donald Richard Toth, age 83, of Kent, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Don was born October 13, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Andrew and Mary (Varga) Toth. 

After growing up in the Hungarian neighborhood of Buckeye Road in Cleveland, he moved to Kent, where he resided for the past 65 years. He graduated from Kent State University, where he later earned his Master of Education degree. For 35 years, Don dedicated his career to Ravenna High School, where he worked as an Occupational Work Experience, industrial arts, and history teacher, building a lifelong network of close teaching friends. Passionate about school sports, he also coached the Ravenna High School tennis team for nearly two decades and coached cross country for several seasons. A true outdoorsman, he was an avid golfer, downhill skier, fisherman and hunter. He was a proud member of the APCO Fish & Wildlife Conservation Club for over 40 years. He will be remembered fondly as an influential teacher, an energetic sportsman, and an exceptional father and family man.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Darla Toth (Black); his son, Brian (Sharon) Toth; his daughter, Alexa Toth; his stepsons, Trey (Renée) and John Beck; his grandchildren, Joseph (Lena), Sara, Liam, Donovan, Max, and Zoë; his brother, Edward (Donna) Toth; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Mary.

Calling hours will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 21, 2026, at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home, 628 W Main St, Kent, OH 44240. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 PM with Pastor Gary Beck officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made via check to APCO to fund a memorial structure at the APCO lodge in Ravenna, Ohio.
