Dorothy T. Allen

Dorothy T. Allen, 94, of Kent, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Kent Ridge Senior Living. She was born in Kent on July 11, 1931 to the late Augustine and Angeline Thomas and was a proud, lifelong resident and historian of Kent.

Dorothy was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and volunteered extensively at Stan Hywet, Kent State University School of Design and Kent Roosevelt High School library. She was an accomplished tennis player. Dorothy was an avid reader, book collector and antique dealer. She helped run Allen Drain Service with her husband Bill for 42 years. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten by those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William C. Allen on May 30, 2003; her daughter Patricia Gandee; three brothers and two sisters.

She leaves her three daughters, Ann (Jesse) White, Marcy (Stewart) North and Cindy (Dave) Wyse; son-in-law Kevin Gandee; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In honoring her wishes, Dorothy will be cremated and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 6:00PM at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240. Visitation will be prior to the service from 5:00-6:00PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00AM at Standing Rock Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in her name, to Trinity Lutheran Church Social Ministry Fund for the Lord’s Lunch, 600 S. Water St. Kent, OH 44240.
