Gerard "Jerry" Stephen Pohmurski

Gerard “Jerry” Stephen Pohmurski, age 64, of Malvern, OH, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026. Jerry was born March 7, 1962, in Milford, CT to the late Joseph and Dorothy Pohmurski. He is survived by his fiancé, Kathryn Martin; sisters, Marykay (Richard) Ennis, Dorann (Tuck) Russell; and nephew Scott Ennis. He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew Alex Ennis. Jerry passed at home, entering into eternal rest, surrounded by his fiancé and family.

He served in the United States Airforce Reserve as an Avionics Inertial Navigation & Radar Systems Specialist, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. After his service, Jerry went on to study engineering technology at Kent State University Trumbull Campus under his father. He graduated from KSU main campus receiving a bachelor’s degree.

He was one of the early pioneers in the development of Wi-Fi. He became a Director of New Product Development, which required him to travel to the west coast and Asia extensively. His knowledge in the data communications business allowed him to meet diverse people, many of whom he maintained friendships with throughout his life. His knowledge was highly respected and sought after for years. His many accomplishments and unflagging interest in the field kept him engaged until he fully retired in 2022. He loved to share his experiences with all who would listen.

Jerry loved music, dancing, cars, the ocean, swimming, and watching all Cleveland sports, but he was happiest on the golf course. His love of golf began at the age of seven at Sevakeen Lake Golf Course with lessons from his dad, who also shared the love of golf. His father shortened adult clubs for him and his younger sister and modified their golf bag with the addition of wheels. He became a scratch golfer by high school and played some of the finest golf courses across the United States. Jerry won many golf tournaments in Ohio and the surrounding states both by himself and with his father, also a top golfer. He golfed on his high school team and the Kent State University team.

He played many other sports including basketball, flag football, wrestling, baseball, pickleball, and bowling. He was drawn to water, spending many years wintering by the Florida gulf coast soaking up the sun, golfing, and walking the beach. He finally settled in the private community of Lake Mohawk, enjoying pickleball, golf, and boating. He and his fiancé enjoyed riding around the community in his golf cart visiting friends, boating or watching sunsets over the lake. They also enjoyed quiet mornings at their Howland condo watching golfers on the Avalon Lakes course.

He never met an enemy, and was known as a kind, generous, helpful, and gracious friend to many. He will be missed not only by his family, but by the many friends he made throughout his amazing life.

The family would like to thank Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals of Cleveland, and Grace Hospice for their care. Jerry will be laid to rest at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent, Ohio following a private service.
