Gregory Ray Laubert, age 66, was born on January 5, 1959 in Ravenna, Ohio. He died, after a five-year battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at UNC Medical Center at Chapel Hill, due to complications during surgery.

After graduating in 1977 from Garfield High School in Garrettsville, OH, Greg began his working life, pursuing a love of bowling that started at a very young age, by working at the family-owned Sky Lanes in Garrettsville. There he enjoyed playing in several leagues and celebrating many accomplishments.

Greg and Debra were married in 1982. They moved to Bear Creek, North Carolina in 1984 where Greg embraced the country lifestyle working with Purvis Farms and more than 20 years with Townsend Poultry. He enjoyed working with livestock - handling, raising, feeding and caring for them; usually followed closely by one of his many beloved dogs over the years. At his peak, he was owner of multiple poultry houses producing approximately 25,000 chickens and countless eggs annually; as well as raising and caring for approximately 60 head of cattle.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Debra; his daughter whom he deeply loved, Holly (Scott) Bingham; siblings, Doug of Freedom Twp, Anette (Bob) Castello of Doylestown, Jodi (Billy) Alford of Lebanon, KY, Shawna (Bill) Potteiger of Garrettsville, Jimmy (Marilyn) of Gulf, NC, Kathryn Hodgeman of Kent, OH, Carla (Mike) Harris of Windham, OH and Ron (Stacy) Miller of St. Mary’s, WV; brother-in-law Steven Sycz; step-parents Jim Hodgeman and Ann Laubert; aunts Mary Tassone and Sandy Gill and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Don Laubert and Roberta (Gill) Hodgeman.

Calling hours will be held at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240 on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 2:00-4:00PM & 6:00-8:00PM. Funeral services will be Friday, October 3, 2025 at 11:00AM followed by the interment at Standing Rock Cemetery.

His family welcomes flowers and other gifts of condolence but asks that any monetary gifts be donated, in his name, to SECU House, Chapel Hill, at secufh.org, for their exceptional service and care during his cancer treatments. His family would like to thank Dr. Weiss and Dr. Hoffman for their dedicated care over the years, as well as the amazing staff at SECU House.
