John A. Wise, 75, of Kent, passed into the presence of God on Saturday, October 25, 2025. He was born in Cuyahoga Falls on January 4, 1950 to the late William and Margaret Wise and had a strong Christian faith and generous nature.
He was a Jack-of-all-Trades, with a remarkably broad and thorough understanding of mechanics. He could troubleshoot almost anything. John was a heavy equipment operator and a True Kent Legend. He brought an energy to every room he entered and was quick with a story and a laugh.
He was a motorcycle enthusiast, and he can be remembered for lighting up the strip on Water Street from the Crain Ave. bridge to Main Street on his back tire on Friday nights. This is how the weekend was officially initiated.
John loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his former wife Marsha Wise.
He leaves his son John D. (Samantha) Wise; grandson Harlow Wise; siblings, William R. “Bill” (Susan) Wise, Susan A. Giles and Marie R. Wise; stepchildren, Shelley (Galen) Goss, Laura (Wayne) King and Kristina Wise; many nieces, nephews and close friends.
In honoring his wishes, John will be cremated and a private service will be held at a later date.
Cremation services in the care of Bissler and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240.
