Juliet Lucy (Bonzanto) Pizzute was reunited with the Lord on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 in her home surrounded by her family.
Julie was born on April 7, 1940 in Ravenna to Donato and Vittoria (Bellanteuse) Bonzanto. She was the youngest of six children and raised in her parents’ Italian household. Later in life, she would recount the tales of her big family and heritage, passing on her history and traditions that made us all proud to be Italian. She attended Ravenna Township High School and then went on to work for the Record-Courier newspaper as a proofreader and teletype operator. She later worked in food service for the Kent City Schools.
She married Patsy (Pasquale) Pizzute on October 8, 1962 to whom she was devoted to for 54 years. She was a mother above all else. She loved children. She was the cornerstone and matriarch of our family, and helped raise many children in addition to her own as a babysitter and beloved aunt. She took care of so many people, never complaining, with effortless grace and adaptability and a gentle toughness and strength that was upheld until her final day.
Julie could usually be found in the kitchen, whether it be at home, at school, or at church. Cooking and baking for others was her joy, and everyone knew the taste of her food which had secret ingredients of love and patience. She made everyone feel welcome to come sit at the table with her. She never rushed, she made time for everyone and was ever-present. She was deeply invested in the well-being of others first, their families, lives, and faith. You could learn endlessly talking with her all day, probably over coffee.
The only thing she loved more than baking was her grandchildren; Julia, Robert Scott, and Mia Lewis and Brianne and Patrick Martin.
Julie loved life and to celebrate it. She was joyful. Through all the decades of change she witnessed, she maintained an openness to the world, and a curiosity and excitement that is profoundly human. She gave to life like a wellspring.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brothers, John, Michael, and Joe Bonzanto; and her sister, Splendora Stefansic. Her spirit lives on through those that survive her; her sons, Michael and Steven (Monique) Pizzute; and daughters, Lisa (Patrick) Martin and Laura Lewis (John Helton); her grandchildren; her sister, Mary Marvin; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, June 22nd at St. Patrick Church, 313 N Depeyster St, Kent, OH 44240, with Rev. Fr. John Rovnak as Celebrant. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery followed by a luncheon in her honor.
