Lawrence "Larry" Chintella, was born on March 25, 1954, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, and passed away on July 13, 2026, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was 72 years old.
Larry earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Youngstown State University, a testament to his dedication to learning and problem-solving. He graduated at the top of his class at YSU. His engineering career took him all over the country working for clients like Tennessee Valley Authority, BP and the City of Cleveland, managing enormous construction projects as a Civil Engineer.
His sense of humor was quiet and wry, and his sharp intellect and quick wit made Larry an unforgettable presence at trivia nights, where he was often the MVP on any team. Larry had a unique ability to engage in spirited debates on any topic, always pushing for consideration for the other side. He challenged everyone’s thinking just as he always challenged the status quo.
Larry was an accomplished musician. As a young boy, he won the National Accordion Competition at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, OH. Additionally, he was a great keyboardist and owned a grand piano that he purchased for himself in high school.
For many years, Larry lived in Streetsboro, Ohio, where he converted his apartment dining room into a billiards parlor. You couldn’t sit down at a table for dinner, but you could play a nice game of nine ball with him while enjoying a cold bottle of Rolling Rock and punk rock favorites.
A true punk rock enthusiast, Larry loved listening to music. He attended concerts all over the country from major festivals to bars that fit 100 people. His punk rock community were always willing participants at any show, and he found community in the mosh pit. He also had a passion for watching curling, a sport that captivated his attention with its strategy and precision.
Larry is survived by his brothers Mark and Ken; two nephews, Alex and Tyler; and a niece Kendra. He had cherished close friends, Monica Musil, Sara Lee Hayes, and Brian and Cheri Passell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Chintella and Virginia Holodnik Chintella and his partner, Holly Goodfellow.
Larry was truly one of a kind, a loyal friend with a vibrant personality who left an indelible mark on all those who knew him. He was the best listener, and his response was never judgmental, never candy coated, always direct and always helpful. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing. He will be remembered forever. Rest in Punk, Larry.
In honoring his wishes, Larry was laid to rest at Foxfield Preserve in Wilmot, OH.
