Matthew J. Manus, age 54, of Ravenna, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 15, 2026.
Born on March 1, 1972, in Ravenna, Ohio to the late Ronald and Michaelene (Brezna) Manus. Matthew lived a life marked by love, loyalty, creativity, and dedication to those he cared about most. He touched the lives of many through his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support of family and friends.
A talented guitar player from a very early age, Matthew had a deep passion for music that remained unwavering throughout his life. Many had the opportunity to watch him perform over the years as he participated in and helped establish numerous bands. Music was more than a hobby for Matthew—it was a way for him to connect with others, express himself, and bring people together. His talent, enthusiasm, and love for performing left a lasting impression on fellow musicians, friends, and audiences alike.
In the later years of his life, Matthew faced significant health challenges. Yet he never allowed those struggles to define him or stand in the way of what mattered most, connecting with people. He continued to reach out to friends and family, sharing stories, laughter, and companionship. His resilience, positive spirit, and genuine interest in others remained evident to all who knew him.
Matthew is survived by his sisters, Gabrielle Manus (Allen Greene) and Danielle Manus-Hoben (Daniel Hoben); and his beloved nieces and nephews, Conor Greene, Peyton Greene, Shane Hoben, and Caelin Hoben. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Michealene Manus.
Matthew will be remembered for his warm heart, creative spirit, sense of humor, musical talent, and the lasting impact he made on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will miss him deeply and cherish the time they shared with him.
Per his request, cremation will follow at Bissler & Sons Crematory. Memorials may be made to Kent Rocks Guitar Fest at Kentrocks.com.
A celebration of Matt’s life will take place on Sunday, August 2nd from 3:00-6:00 at Bell Tower Brewing Co. in Kent, Ohio.
