Michael Thomas Wagar

Michael Thomas “Woody” Wagar, 64, of Akron, passed away unexpectedly, on Saturday, September 19, 2026. He was born in Toledo, OH on March 30, 1962 to the late Thomas and Norma Wagar.

Michael was employed as a paramedic with the City of Cleveland EMS, retiring in 2022. He loved being a paramedic, and he made a difference for so many patients and for the people who worked beside him. He loved his friends fiercely and loved his daughter and granddaughter with everything he had.

He was an outgoing, free spirit with a larger-than-life personality. He could tell a story like no other and could walk into a room and make himself known. Michael enjoyed woodworking and small engine repair. He had a great sense of humor and the world is quieter and less entertaining without him.

Michael leaves his wife Jennifer Wagar; daughters, Delaney Wagar, Colleen (Chris) Anderson and Alexis (Tyler) Wood; granddaughter Zayda; siblings, Julie Wagar, William (Monica) Wagar and Kathy Wagar; nieces, Jacqueline, Jeanette, Jessica and Samantha.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 12:00PM at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240. Interment will follow at Standing Rock Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 23, 2026 from 5:00-8:00PM and Thursday from 11:00AM-12:00PM at the funeral home.
