Nick A. Battaglia, age 76 of Kent, peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family on February 6, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 7th 1950, Nick was the first son of the late Angelo and Josephine (Zampelli) Battaglia. A lifelong Kent resident and St. Patrick parish member, Nick married Sylvia Paskey on October 24, 1970.
Known by those who loved him, Nick exhibited generosity to all, and the importance he placed on family. Never arriving empty-handed to appointments of any kind, Nick enjoyed bringing food and his loving spirt, whether it was doctor & dentist appointments, or any variety of business meetings. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren (who affectionately called him ‘Papa’), always desired the newest electronic gadget, and considered two days’ worth of leftovers as under ordering for those who came to eat at his home.
Nick was a third-generation partner and owner in Kent Produce/ Nick Battaglia & Sons his entire career, with the company at one point having growing operations in Kent, as well as Belle Glade, FL. The company was a respected supplier to a variety of large retail grocery operations, as well as a number of local restaurants.
In addition to Sylvia, his loving wife of 55 years, survivors also include two daughters: Christina (Neil) Snyder of Streetsboro, Laurie (Scott) Liechty of Hudson; grandchildren Christopher (Taylor), Nathaniel, Meredith (Noah), Mitch and Charlie. Additional survivors include siblings Prov Brown, Angela ‘Sis’ Brown, Marie (Doug) Beavers, Toni (Henry) Hucks, Duke (Yvonne) Battaglia; brother-in-law Ron Paskey, and sister-in-law Dee Paskey. Nick also had 16 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by his in-laws, Frank and Sandra Paskey, sister Joanne Giovinazzo, brothers-in-law Larry and James Brown, and a niece, Cher Brown.
Friends may call from 4:00-7:00PM on THURSDAY, February 12, 2026 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240.
