Sally Ann Schumann

Sally A. Schumann, 83, of Kent, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at KentRidge Senior Living following complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

Born in Steubenville on October 25, 1942, she was a proud 1960 graduate of Kent Roosevelt High School and a longtime resident of the Kent community.

Sally enjoyed a life filled with family, travel, and music. She loved to dance, to cook, and to bring people together—especially during the holidays. Her Thanksgiving and Christmas meals were legendary, filling her home with warmth, laughter, and the comfort of her cooking. She cherished every moment spent with her family and found joy in creating memories that will be treasured for generations.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend—loved by everyone who knew her. Her kindness, generosity, and steady presence made her a source of strength and comfort to those around her.

Sally is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Schumann; her daughter and son‑in‑law, Tanya and Dan Salopek; and her grandchildren, Danielle and Matthew Salopek. She is also survived by her nieces, Stacy Reder, Arin Gilbert, Kelley (Gary) Labajetta; and nephews, Casey (Annie) King, Justin (Jen) King, and Thomas (Patty) Reder.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert King and Lois Elliott; her brothers, Garry and Robert “Bobby” King; her sister, Sondra “Sunnie” Stutzman; and her beloved daughter, Tami Haas.

A celebration of Sally’s life will be held on Sunday, May 3rd at North Water Brewery, 101 E. Crain Ave., Kent, Ohio 44240 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
