Vicki Lynn Martin

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Vicki Martin (Svoboda), who peacefully lost her courageous 11-year battle with cancer on September 3, 2026.

Vicki was born on September 20, 1973. Throughout her life, she was known for her strength, compassion, generosity, and unwavering devotion to the people she loved. She leaves behind a beautiful family and countless others whose lives were forever changed by knowing her.

Vicki is survived by her beloved husband, Greg; and children, Andrew, Charlie, and Franki, who were the greatest source of pride and joy in her life. She is also survived by mother, Cindy Svoboda; father, Russell Svoboda; sister, Polli Svoboda (Frank Policy); brother, Joe Svoboda (Tiffany); in-laws, Don and Dorothy Martin; brothers-in-law, Jamie Martin (Nancy) and David Martin (Julie Pudimat); and nieces and nephews, Maggie, Max, Joseph, Shelby and Aiden. In

addition, Vicki leaves to cherish her memory, her much-loved aunts, uncles and cousins. She will also be lovingly remembered by her beloved canine companions, Louie and Bentley.

Vicki was preceded in death by grandparents, Jim and Donna Klohn and Janet and Doug Svoboda.

Vicki was a dedicated educator who touched the lives of countless students throughout her career. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from The University of Akron and later her master’s degree in administration from Kent State University. She devoted her career to teaching mathematics at St. Hilary and Barberton Middle School, where she gave her students not only knowledge, but also encouragement, compassion, and the belief that they could achieve anything they set their minds to.

Vicki had a wonderful sense of adventure and a deep love of travel. She cherished the opportunity to explore new places, experience different cultures, and create lasting memories with the people she loved. Her curiosity, enthusiasm, and appreciation for life made every journey special. Planning the next road trip or vacation was one of Vicki’s greatest pleasures in life.

Above all, Vicki will be remembered for the extraordinary love she gave to her friends and family, the countless lives she touched through teaching, her adventurous spirit, and the strength, grace, and courage she demonstrated throughout her 11-year battle with cancer. Even in the face of tremendous challenges, she continued to be a source of light and inspiration to those around her.

Her legacy lives on in her husband and children, family and friends, the memories created through her travels and adventures, and everyone fortunate enough to have known and loved her.

Vicki will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and always loved.

Visitation will be SATURDAY, September 12, 2026 from 10:00AM-1:00PM at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240. A memorial service will follow at 1:00PM at the funeral home.
