Zachary Joseph Cody

Zachary Joseph Cody, of Akron, Ohio, passed away tragically on October 27, 2025, in a house fire that also claimed the life of his mother, Sharon. Zachary was born on July 4 1981 in Ohio.

He earned an Associate in Computer Network Systems from ITT Technical Institute. He worked at GXS Data Center as a Senior Data Center Analyst before accepting a position with MetroHealth Information Technology Center as the Senior Data Base Administrator.

Zachary was not one to wear his heart on his sleeve, however, those fortunate enough to have known his heart knew he would go to the end of the Earth for family and friends.

He was unapologetically himself, brash at times, yes, but always honest, always genuine. His authenticity earned him deep respect from everyone that knew him, whether it be family, friends, or colleagues.

Exceptionally bright and unwavering in his pursuit of excellence; Zachary brought a rare intensity and clarity to everything he did. Whether he was tackling complex challenges at work, his personal life or just sharing a moment of laughter, he did so with a unique sense of humor that was as sharp as it was unforgettable.

His legacy is one of compassion, integrity, intellect, and impact. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In honoring his wishes, Zachary has been cremated, and an outdoor celebration of life will be held for Zachary and his mother in the summer of 2026. The family hopes this gathering will offer closure and will be filled with shared stories, love, and hugs on a bright, sunny day.
