Ashley S. Dyer

Ashley Susan Dyer, age 36, of Kent, died on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at her home in Kent, Ohio.

Ashley was born October 31, 1983 in Ravenna, Ohio to James David and Susan (Kitt) Dyer.

It was no surprise that Halloween would become her favorite holiday, and horror films her favorite movie genre. Ashley loved fashion and nothing more than dressing up her son, Blayke, and taking him out on numerous annual scary Halloween adventures. She graduated from Roosevelt High School (2002) and attended the University of Akron where she studied Psychology. She always aspired to be a lawyer like her dad.

Ashley was honored to spend many years of her career employed as a Residential Supervisor at the Interval Brotherhood Home in Akron where she provided support services to people in inpatient treatment. Even after her time at IBH, she continued to help many people in Recovery. This was her gift.

Ashley was principled. You could always rely on her to tell it like it is, but with fierce loyalty, so you always knew such real talk came from a place of love. Even when she was struggling herself, Ashley was always a source of strength and support to those who needed lifting up. She was often focused and intentional, but still able to bring light and humor to any situation. 

She is survived by her mother, Susan Dyer, her sister, Kathryn Dyer, son, Blayke James Sampsel, and countless aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, James David Dyer.
