Barbara (D’Onofrio) Harrison

1928 - 2021

Sponikopeta, pizza fritts, Sunday Macs, and leg of lamb are a few of the delicacies Barbara Harrison, 92, of Kent, (June 14, 1928 - May 13, 2021) served her family for more than half a century. Her canned peaches and pears tasted like summer in the middle of winter. Barbara and George, her husband of 67 years, encouraged them to be critical consumers of...

I remember well growing up on North Willow Street.. I specifically remember spending many hours climbing in the tree in the Harrison's front yard waiting for Janet, Alita and Andrew to finish eating so they could come out and play. My sympathy on the passing of your mother, and Mr. Harrison on the passing of your wife.

I met Barbara shortly after the family moved to Kent. We were neighbors, and our children became friends first.
Although I have not seen Barbara for a number of years, I have fond memories of her as a straight-up woman. Smart, funny, energetic, loving and generous. She did not suffer fools gladly. When I saw the movie "Moonstruck" in which Cher's character slapped a whining male and shouted "Snap out of it!" I thought of Babara.( I wish I could have watched that with her.) This is not to say that Barbara lacked empathy or compassion. Far from it. She did care about people, as demonstrated in her many years of volunteer work in this community. as well as in her friendships. She was just so centered and had her feet firmly on the ground. Speaking of her feet, or if the last times I saw her was at the wedding of one of her granddaughters, and thus lady could dance! I am so glad that I have known her. I send my condolences to
George, Janet, Alita, Adrew and all the rest of her family. Guenveur
