Betty Louise (Woods) Copeland

Betty Louise Copeland, 92, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2021 in Ravenna, Ohio.

Betty was born on January 20, 1929 to the late James and Emma (Jackson) Woods of Springfield, Ohio.

She attended Springfield public schools, having graduated from Springfield High School.  She was an active member of the Kent community through her work with Union Baptist Church of Kent and as a member of the Women’s Social Club of Kent. 

Mrs. Copeland was preceded in death by her younger sister, Lora Jean Collins and her husband of 55 years, Louis Samuel Copeland. 

Mrs. Copeland is survived by her two sons, John Louis Meeks, Sr. (Andrea) of Orange Park, Florida and Louis Samuel Copeland, III of Ravenna, Ohio; her three grandchildren, John Louis Meeks, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida, Ashlee Ja’Near Meeks of Jacksonville, Florida, Quinton Johnson (Katelyn) of Streetsboro, Ohio; six great-granddaughters; one great-great grandson; favorite nephew Harold T. Collins, nephew Harvey Dean Collins, nieces Cindy Singleton and Cheryl Collins and an extended family of relatives and friends.

Special thanks to the staff of Longmeadow Care Center of Ravenna, Ohio, her devoted nephew Harold Collins, Dr. Leonne Hudson, Tony Triplett, and Doria Daniels, and Minnie Green for going above and beyond to care for her.

Final rites will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Grandview Memorial Park of Ravenna, Ohio, 5400 Lakewood Road, Ravenna, Ohio.
