Carolyn K. (Gungle) Marquinez

Carolyn Katherine Marquinez, age 81, of Hudson, died on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Hudson Grande.

Carolyn was born on November 23, 1938 in Akron, to Fred and Mary (Schauer) Gungle. 

She received her degree in nursing from St. Thomas Hospital, School of Nursing. While a student, she met her future husband, Apolinario A. Marquinez, M.D., to whom she was married for 39 years.  She was a parishioner of St. Patrick Church in Kent for 52 years.  She was a member of the Alumni Association of St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing and the Red Hat Society in Kent.  She enjoyed traveling, watching the Cleveland Indians and playing video poker at casinos.

She is survived by her son, Frederick P. (Sally) Marquinez, daughters, Mary E. (Martin) Johns, Carol M. (Donald) Asbury and her sister, Mary Ellen Doyle.  She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Alyse and Tia Marquinez, Elizabeth and Daniel Johns and Katherine Asbury as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, ApolinarioMarquinez, M.D. and parents, Fred and Mary Gungle.

Viewing will be at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kent, Ohio at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 2nd preceding the Mass.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m with Fr. Richard Pentello officiating.  We request that you observe COVID-19 precautions.  The interment at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent, Ohio will follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Patrick School Endowment Fund.
