David E Kurtz

David E. Kurtz, 71, of Kent, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 in the comfort of his home.  He was born in Ravenna on March 16, 1950 to the late Leonard and Sarah Kurtz and was a 1968 graduate of Kent Roosevelt High School.  Following graduation, David enlisted in the military and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy.  He was a member of United Methodist Church of Kent and the VFW.  He enjoyed doing woodwork and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Kurtz; his brother Robert Kurtz and his sister Marilyn Falkenberg.

David leaves his son Jeffrey (Angela Williams) Kurtz of Kent; daughter Jodi (Dino Maffei) Stainbrook of Ravenna; son Jason (Jen Urban) Kurtz of Kent; grandchildren, Aaron and Austin Stainbrook, Aubrey and Jeffrey Jr Kurtz, Sarah Welker, Ethan Kurtz, Kingston Kurtz, Jacob Thompson, Jackson Kurtz, Deacon Kurtz and Benjamin Kurtz; and his brother James (Carol) Kurtz.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 6:00PM at United Methodist Church of Kent, 1435 E. Main St. Kent, OH 44240, with the Rev. Dr. David Palmer and the Rev. Douglas Denton officiating.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 4:00-6:00pm on Thursday at the church.  A private graveside service for the family will be held at a later date at Standing Rock Cemetery.
