Elaine May (Seeley) Lumley

Elaine May Lumley, 78, of Kent, passed away on February 13, 2023. Elaine was born in Hamilton, Ontario Canada on June 11, 1944. A long-time member of Christ Episcopal Church in Kent. Elaine taught swimming and water aerobics at Theodore Roosevelt High School before earning her teaching degree and dedicated her next 17 years to teaching elementary school for the Akron Public Schools. She was a member of the Kent State University Women’s book club and art club and a member of Kent Coterie II. She was an accomplished artist and involved in the arts portion of Kent Fest in its early years. She loved to travel with Don and her children and grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Jim and May Seeley, and her sister Carol. Survived by her husband Don of 55 years; son Bryan (Sara) Lumley; daughter Susan (Jay) Lumley; grandchildren Isaac, Simon, Rachel, and Ethan Lumley and Katie Edwards; brother Norman (Ailene) Seeley; sister-in-law Mary (Richard) Beadon and brother- in-law Greg (Jo) Smith; and countless nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday February 19, 2023 at Christ Episcopal Church 118 S. Mantua St. Kent, Ohio 44240.
