George D. Shardy

George David Shardy of Kent passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at the age 67 of Acinar Pancreatic Cancer.

George was born September 27, 1953 in Sharon, PA to George and Joan (Reiter) Shardy.

George was employed at Kraft Foods until moving to Kent in 1983 where he was employed at Land O’Lakes where he met his wife RoseMary.  George retired from Land O’Lakes.

George was a kind, loving, intelligent, hard working man with a witty sense of humor.  George was surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family in his final days and still managed to bring them laughter through their tears.  George had a special place in his heart for each of his grandchildren and would send individual cards to them every week with a personal message and include gum, stickers, pennies, and increase the amount as they got older.

In George’s younger days, he loved to rebuild cars, hunt and fish.  George loved to build things, tinker around in his meticulous workshop, and garden.  His pickled red beets were everyone’s favorite.

George was preceded in death by his daughter Regina, his grandparents George & Elsie Shardy and Elmer & Bertha Reiter.

He will forever be missed by his wife RoseMary of 35 years.  His parents George & Joan Shardy and his brother Bob (Teri) Shardy.

He also leaves behind his children Maria (Warren) Diehl, Sarah (Justin) Tomac, Joe (Shaina) Shardy, Dan (Tia) Shardy, George John (Crysta) Shardy, stepdaughter Kim Mashchari, stepson Robert (Sara) Kline. He also leaves behind 31 grandchildren and a step granddaughter.

Calling hours will be held 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Brookfield Township Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, 628 W Main Street, Kent, Ohio 44240.
