Gretchen (Vosper) Laflin

January 27, 1933 ~ August 11, 2023 (age 90) 90 Years Old


Gretchen Laflin, 90, of Kent, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Cleveland Clinic Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center.  She was born in Woodsfield, OH on January 27, 1933 to the late Harley and Hazel Vosper and was employed as a secretary at Kent State University for 25 years. 

She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Kent where she sang in the sanctuary choir and was a member of the Mary Reed Circle.  Gretchen enjoyed camping, the family’s annual trips to Myrtle Beach and wintering in Florida.  She will be missed greatly and never forgotten.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald R. Laflin; brother Earl Vosper; sisters Patricia Shrake and Flo Trenary; brothers-in-law, Thomas Straughn, Warren Trenary and Richard Shrake.

Gretchen leaves her sons, Bradley E. Laflin of Decatur, GA, Gordon R. (Patricia) Laflin of Hudson and Dustin A. (Tammy) Laflin of Kent; grandchildren, Kelsey and Cheyenne; sister Nancy Straughn and several nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held at Grandview Memorial Park.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the Cleveland Clinic Justin T. Rogers Hospice Center for the wonderful care given to Gretchen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cleveland Clinic Justin T. Rogers Hospice Center or to the United Methodist Church of Kent.
