James "Jim" Russell Decker Reynolds

James "Jim" Russell Decker Reynolds, age 71, of Hudson, OH and formerly of Oberlin, OH and Syracuse, NY, died on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at the Hudson Grande.

James "Jim" was born January 31, 1949 in Evanston, IL to Russell and Harriet (Decker) Reynolds.  Jim received his BA in Education from Syracuse University in 1971 and then MA in American History in 1973.  He returned to Syracuse University and received an MS in Rehabilitation Counseling in 1977.  In 1984, Jim received his MA in Counseling Psychology from Chapman University.  He then took post graduate courses in School Psychology at Oswego State University in 1997.

Jim taught Social Studies for the Syracuse City Schools from 1973-1976.  He was then employed at Alternative Industries in Oneida, NY in 1977 and Hutchings Psychiatric in Syracuse from 1978-1982 as a Rehabilitation Counselor.  Jim became Team Leader of Adolescent and Children's Inpatient at Hutchings, a position he held from 1982-1984.  He served as Program Director of Adolescent Day Treatment at the McCarthy School in 1985 and OCM Boces from 1986-1990.  Jim was Psychologist I at Cedar Industries from 1990-1994 and Hutchings Outpatient beginning in 1994.  He was currently providing in-home emergency consultation services for families in crisis and conducted workshops for the staff of residential agencies throughout New York State.

Jim loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking and his love of guitar stemmed from classical rock.  He was an avid student of Civil War history.

He is survived by sons, Russell Reynolds, Nathaniel (Kayla) Leska and Ian Reynolds; daughter, Taisa (Aaron) Jenkins; and sister, Judith Makens.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn Reynolds; and parents, Russell and Harriet (Decker) Reynolds.
