Jane A. (Mumford) Sinning

Jane A. Sinning passed away at home on March 4, 2021. She was born on August 5, 1933 in Howard, South Dakota to Irving M. Mumford and Mary (Wines) Mumford. She graduated from Howard High School in 1951 and continued her education receiving a bachelor’s degree in English in 1955 from South Dakota State University. After graduation, she was employed as a High School English teacher in Lennox, South Dakota where she met her husband, Wayne E Sinning, marrying on June 14, 1958. Wayne and Jane went on to raise four children together and had a marriage that lasted 57 years until her husband’s death. She was known for her intelligence, kindness, and love of animals. Jane enjoyed sewing, gardening, and reading. She was active in her community and raised money for various charities. Jane especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, hosting holiday celebrations and attending school and sporting events with them. She also enjoyed traveling, social events and discussing politics. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, and sisters Elizbeth Jewell, Nancy Baughman and Mary Wagner. She is survived by her children Thomas (Katie) Sinning, Martha (Dan) Ahearn, Nancy Sinning and Edie Sinning, grand children Connor Sinning, Jason Sinning, Brett Sinning (Heather) Daniel Ryan Ahearn (Vanessa), Brendan Ahearn (Ryleigh Tyson), Timothy Ahearn and Samantha Wright, and her great grandchildren Everest, Mercia and Jack Ahearn and Wyatt and Lincoln Sinning as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation hours are from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday March 10, 2021 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home 628 West Main St. Kent, Ohio 44240. Due to health precautions, services will be held privately. Those who would like to remember Jane in a special way may make contributions to the Animal Protective League or a charity of their choice.
