Janet Carolyn Snowberger, 82, of Kent passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Eden Vista of Stow, after suffering from long-term illness. Janet was born on March 18, 1941 in Kent to the late Charles and Juanita McGarry. Her brother, Robert, preceded her in death.
Janet graduated from Kent State University, majoring in education and secretarial science and was a member of Tau Beta Sigma and Delta Omicron Honor Societies. She was a member of the Streetsboro United Methodist Church and served as church organist for 25 years. She was involved in Kent Junior Mothers during her child rearing years and served as the club’s president. Janet enjoyed 29 years as a Kent Garden Club member, bowling, making blankets for the homeless, knitting caps for hospital babies, reading, piano playing, and an occasional trip with Paskey Tours to the casino, tending to her many bird feeders, and all sports, especially soccer. Many trips to Florida with her grandchildren resulted in over 20 photo albums of fond memories.
Janet is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ron, her son Michael C. (Vicki) Snowberger and grandsons Ryan and Tyler. Also surviving, her daughter Christine A. Gillespie-Davis (Michael) and grandchildren Nina and Meier Gillespie and Alex Davis. Also remembering Jan is her brother-in-law Russell Snowberger (Carol) and sister-in-law Virginia Ellsworth, along with many nieces and nephews. According to her request, cremation has taken place and burial is at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent.
The family offers their sincere gratitude to the caregivers at Eden Vista of Stow. Janet was also blessed to have the loving dedication of Crossroads Hospice. We offer our thanks to Bissler & Sons Funeral Home for their care and guidance.
