Joanne J. Corbitt

Joanne J. Corbitt, 87, of Kent, passed away November 1, 2020.  She was born in Ravenna, Ohio and had lived in Cleveland. She was a Registered Nurse her entire career and worked for Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital and Saint Thomas Hospital in Akron.  Joanne was also an educator at the W. Howard Nichol School of Practical Nursing.  She also attended a medical mission trip to Dominican Republic to assist physicians with patients.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Russel and Pauline McKinney and brother, Gene McKinney. She is survived by sons, Michael (Tracy), Patrick (Carol), and Thomas; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren, and a niece and nephew.

Joanne was a member of the Kent Garden Club and the United Methodist Church of Kent.  She enjoyed traveling and went on many summer fishing trips to Canada with her family.  She also traveled to New Zealand and Australia. Other hobbies included gardening, cooking new recipes, reading, watching football, photography, and enjoying nature. She enjoyed watching deer in her back yard and feeding the birds, especially humming birds. She also enjoyed the company of her dog and cat.  Joanne was a very positive person and always saw the bright side.  She cared very much about her family and friends and it showed.  Many good times were had.  She was also very generous with her time when helping others with problems.  She made a positive difference in many lives. Joanne had a good sense of humor and will be missed by many.

Visitation will be held 10:00 to 12:00 PM Saturday, November 13, 2021 with Memorial Service immediately following with Rev. Doug Denton at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W Main Street, Kent, Ohio 44240. Time and date to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Portage County Animal Protective League, 8122 Infirmary Rd.
