Joanne S. (Snell) Maynard

Joanne S. Maynard, 80, of Kent, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022. Joanne was born on March 29, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio to parents, Harry and Josephine Snell.  Joanne grew up in Garrettsville, where she attended school and maintained friendships with high school friends.  Joanne Maynard retired with 30 years experience from the Kent City Schools, where she was employed as secretary to the principal at Theodore Roosevelt High School.  After retirement, she joined the LifeTimes department of the Record Courier until she decided to enjoy time with her family and in her garden.  Joanne was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church of Kent and faithful participant of the Rebecca Circle.  Over the years, she was an active member of Kiwanis Club of Kent, served on the board of Portage County Learning Center Head Start and a member of the Portage County Master Gardeners.  She lived in Franklin Township where she enjoyed working in her yard with her beloved dog, Maggie, at her side.

Joanne was preceded in death by her loving parents, Harry and Josephine and her dear cousin and friend, Ginger Papiska.

Joanne is loved and remembered by her surviving children, Russ (Patty) Maynard and Caroline (Mike) Lenzo; and her grandchildren, Jack (Carly) Maynard, Kristen (Seth) Hunter, Elizabeth (Andrew Dorman) Lenzo and Emme Lenzo.

Joanne will always be remembered for her smile, sparkle in her eye, love and pride for her family and devoted work ethic.

There will be a brief visitation with family and friends at 9:30 AM prior to a memorial service that will be held at the United Methodist Church of Kent, 1435 E. Main St. Kent, OH 44240 on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Dr. David Palmer and the Rev. Douglas Denton officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Drakesburg Cemetery in Freedom Township.
