Laura "Jayne" (Aurand) DeCapito

Laura (Jayne) DeCapito, 88 years old, went to be the Lord on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna. Laura was born on September 5, 1933 to the late Ronald and Ruth Aurand and was a long time resident of Kent, Ohio.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Laura was one of the most loving, big hearted, and funniest people to be around. She would strike up a conversation with anyone she met, many on her trips to Acme in Kent. She loved animals, especially her dog, Brutus. She would always feed the birds and squirrels at her house. She was an avid gardener and had a real green thumb displayed with her beautiful garden. In addition, she loved lounging in her pajamas and doing jigsaw puzzles. There were always several being worked on when visitors came. She was a very genuine person and will be missed by all. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Paul; granddaughter Chrystal Mahlar; one brother and three sisters. 

She is survived by her children, Mike DeCapito, Cathy (James) Knight, Connie (Ken) O’Donnell, and Paula (Chris) Clark. Her grandchildren, Kelly DeCapito, Brittney (Derek) Kohanski, Amanda (Brian) Hromco, Ryan O’Donnell, Courtney (Nathan) O’Donnell-Colwell, Heather Knight and Tim Knight. 

Calling hours will be Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 5:00-7:00PM at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240.  Graveside services will be Friday, November 5, 2021 at 11:00AM at Standing Rock Cemetery. The family requests that everyone in attendance, please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
