Lloyd Alonzo Latsch, 92, of Rootstown, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021. Lloyd was born on February 3, 1929 in Akron to the late Lloyd and Evelyn (Ruggles) Latsch, Sr.
Lloyd established and ran the machine shop L&M Mold Corporation with his wife, Mary, for 50 years. He played an instrumental role in building Goodyear’s first radial truck tire drum. Lloyd was an instrument-rated private pilot who would often fly from his self-built airstrip in his own backyard. He sometimes delivered new aircraft for Piper Aircraft. One of Lloyd’s many other hobbies was successfully racing sprint cars with his sons, winning both the Lakeview Championship and Buckeye Speedway Points Championship in 1987. Lloyd was a level 33 Scottish Rite Mason. He also served as a Rootstown township trustee. His warm smile and robust laugh will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mary (Mindek) Latsch; Children, Helen (James) Cogbill, Lloyd John (Debbie) Latsch, Susan (Peter) Schneider, Cheryl (Jack) Banas, Judith Latsch, and Michael (Colleen) Latsch; Grandchildren, Andrew (Laura) Cogbill, Al (Lori) Manke, Ed Cogbill, Rebecca (Eric) Zronek, Bill (Sara) Manke, Elizabeth (Jon) Flate, Mary Manke, Allan Latsch, Lloyd Latsch, and Orlena Latsch; and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Evelyn Latsch, Sr.
Calling hours will be held 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, November 22, 2021, at Bissler & Sons Funeral and Crematory with Kevin O'Brien officiating. Burial will follow at Homeland Cemetery.
