Lois Rericha Obituary

Our sweet Lois Jean Rericha sadly passed away on May 15th, 2022 at the age of 69 after a short but brave and strong battle with brain cancer.

Lois was born on November 23, 1952 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.  In 1954 her family moved to Maple Heights, Ohio where she would graduate from high school in 1970.  She had a wonderful childhood provided by her parents and many aunts and uncles.

Lois married her high-school sweetheart Rick Rericha and they were married on September 23, 1972.  Prior to having children, Lois and Rick has many adventures together with their Irish Setter Brandy, including waterskiing, camping, going for swims at the quarry, horseback riding, and many, many picnics and family gatherings.

After moving to Kent, Ohio, she and Rick raised their three kids Nick, Steve, and Stephanie.  She along with Rick provided a perfect childhood for her kids, first on Irma Street and then on River Edge Dr.  She lived for family events, such as birthdays, graduations, weddings, and holidays.  She was an avid dog lover, especially of her crazy Irish Setters.  They made her laugh so much and got her through tough times.  Her Kent friends and exercise club also meant so much to her.

Lois also loved camping, hiking and sitting around the campfire.  Some of her favorite places included Long Key State Park in the Florida Keys, Honolulu, Hawaii, Lake Placid, New York, Hocking Hills, and Mohican State Park.  Lois and her family loved to camp at the Mohican KOA, a tradition she kept up for over forty years.  She also loved orchids, with her collection including dozens and dozens of beautiful flowers.

Above all else, she loved her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and enjoyed watching them grow.  She cherished every moment with them.  Her grandchildren meant the world to her, and they love her just as much.

Lois was the epitome of kindness and love.  She was selfless and gave so much of herself to others.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.  It is so difficult to say goodbye.  We love you Lois and you will always live in our hearts.

She was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Angeline Slaventa.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Rericha, sisters, Dolores Mitschke and Jacqueline Schmidt; children, Nicholaus Rericha, Steven Rericha, and Stephanie Rodgers; daughter-in-law, Alice Rericha; son-in-law, Alex Rodgers; grandchildren, Cary Rericha, Genevie Rericha, Parker Rodgers, and Miles Rodgers, and Irish Setter Reilly.  She was a parishioner at St. Patrick’s Church in Kent.
