Louis I. Campbell

Louis I. Campbell, age 94, of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Danbury Senior Living.

Lou was born August 5, 1928 in Parkersburg, WV to the late George and Laura (Bay) Campbell. He moved to Ohio as a young boy. After graduating from Ravenna High School, he worked at the Ravenna Arsenal before joining the United States Army.

Lou met Alfreda (Freda) Kazmierski, in 1950. The two wed in 1955 and moved to Kent where they raised their family and lived most of their lives. In 1972, Lou and Freda took over the family businesses, Campbell’s Furniture.  They sold the business in 1986 and Lou retired at the young age of 59.

Lou served 28 years in the Portage County Sheriff’s Unit 1300 and was a lifetime member of the Kent Elks Lodge.  He enjoyed traveling, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, daughters; Lori (Michael) Faught, and Teresa Pitts; grandchildren, Austin (Jackie) Faught, Briana Faught, Robert (Danielle) Pitts, and Kara (Derrick) Pitts; great-grandchildren, Eric, Emmy, Jameson, Julia, and Kensilina.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Campbell; and sister, Virginia Bombarger.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Kent Elks Lodge #1377, 2265 Erie St. Ravenna, Ohio on Saturday, April 22nd from 1:00-3:00pm.  Family and friends are welcomed. Private military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery will take place April 27th.  Memorials may be made to The Haven of Portage County, 2645 St. Rte 59, Ravenna or Traditions Health Hospice, 207 Portage Trail Ext. W., Cuyahoga Falls, .
