Lynnda W. (Wolf) Hoefler
December 12, 1953 ~ December 23, 2023 (age 70) 70 Years Old
Lynnda Wolf Hoefler, age 70 was born in Kenmore, NY and died in Stow, Ohio on December 23rd, 2023.
She was preceded by her parents Harvey and Winifred (Foley) Wolf. Lynnda graduated from West Genesee High School in Camillus, NY in 1972.
She was a proud member of the renowned Wildcat Marching Band and returned for many years to march the Memorial Day Parade with the West Genesee Alumni reunion band that met every 5 years.
She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education for the Hearing Impaired from Kent State University in June 1976. Lynnda served as President of Tau Beta Sigma, the Band Honorary, and of Delta Zeta Sorority, where she was recognized with one of 8 outstanding senior awards in the country. She was a member of the SU Wind ensemble and marching band. She met the love of her life in the music school at Kent and married Robert Hoefler in 1977 where they lived in Kent until they moved to Stow in 1993.
Lynnda was an avid supporter of her husband's music programs through his 40 years of teaching, attending endless concerts and chaperoning many band trips. She worked in Kent for Shallenberger and Associates, an agency of New England Life, as well as for the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce.
She most enjoyed working at the Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown as a standardized patient in the Wasson Center for over 20 years. Lynnda was a proud 12 gallon blood donor.
Lynnda was a longtime volunteer for her sorority serving the Kent State chapter as the College Chapter Director for many years and as the Province Collegiate Director for Ohio. In 1987 she was elected to the Delta Zeta Sorority National Council and served until 1998 as a National Director, the Treasurer, and National Vice President of Membership. In 1993 she was appointed to serve on the sorority's delegation to the National Panhellenic Conference, the largest women's organization, where she served as an alternate delegate for many years. She went back on the Delta Zeta National Council in 2002 as the NPC Delegate. In 2013 she was elected to the Executive Committee of the National Panhellenic Conference where she served as the Finance Chairman for 4 years. Lynnda finished her second tenure on the National Council in 2014 and retired from NPC in 2018 after 25 years. She was recognized at convention in 2018 as a "Distinguished" Past National Officer and for her longtime local service to the Gamma Kappa chapter at Kent State University.
Lynnda will be remembered for her love of family and travel, helping to empower young college women, her thirst for knowledge and love of music and Kent State. She enjoyed knitting, and cooking, and considered herself blessed with the friendship of so many outstanding sorority leaders across the country.
She is survived by her loving husband Bob of 46 years; brothers, Kenneth (Debbie Schneider) Wolf of Marcellus, NY, Matthew Wolf/Debra Parks of Pulaski, NY; nieces, Savanna Wolf of Littleton, CO, Janessa Wolf (Taylor) Stormberg of Omaha, NE, and Alyssa Wolf of Kinston, NC; great niece, Ruby Stormberg; and god-daughter Lindsay Turoso Rosas in California.
Calling hours will be held 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Kent United Church of Christ, 1400 E. Main St. Kent, OH 44240 with Rev. Amy Gopp officiating. Private Burial at Maple Grove Cemetery.
