Marilyn A. (Ahlin) Hodar

Marilyn Ann Hodar (Ahlin), age 76, of Kent, passed away on June 6, 2023. She was born February 18, 1947, in Mayfield Hts., Ohio, to the late Frank and Matilda Ahlin. 

She graduated from Notre Dame College and taught French until moving to Kent with husband Kenneth Hodar. Marilyn was the most incredible mother to her children, staying home with them as they grew up and later, she was an amazing grandmother. She loved numbers and math and went back to work in bookkeeping and tax preparation for many years, including earning Enrolled Agent status from the IRS. She was active at her church and enjoyed helping others at various points being active on PTA’s, Kent Junior Mothers, and the League of Women Voters. She loved gardening, playing board games, hiking at the local parks, and baking cookies and banana nut bread for her family and friends.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Kenneth; sons, Keith (wife Jennifer) and Kevin; and grandchildren, Madison (husband Todd Weiss) and Kyle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Frank and daughter Margaret.

The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. to Noon, MONDAY, June 12, 2023 at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home, 628 W. Main Street, Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M., MONDAY, June 12th at the University Parish Newman Center, 1424 Horning Road, Kent, with burial following at Standing Rock Cemetery. Following the burial, a reception with food and fellowship will be held at the Newman Center.
