Martha J. Vasbinder Andregg

Martha J. Vasbinder Andregg, age 93, of Sebring, died on Sunday, May 10, 2020 at Crandall Medical Center.

Martha was born October 30, 1926 in Dormont, PA to Herbert and Sarah (Stewart) Wilber.  Marty was a longtime resident of Kent and Copeland Oaks in Sebring for the past 20 years.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Kent for over 70 years.  Marty enjoyed being a member of the Sanctuary Choir at church.  Her love of books kept her reading throughout her entire life.  Marty’s strong faith, passion for music and love of Kent brought her great joy.

Marty attended Kent State University School, then attended Kent State University receiving her Bachelors (1948) and Masters (1965) in Library Science.  She worked at the Kent Free Library as the Children’s Librarian.  Marty took the position with the Kent City Schools as Supervisor of Elementary Libraries, establishing the Libraries in Holden and Walls Elementary Schools.  She completed her career at the Kent State University Library.  During her retirement she volunteered at the Copeland Oaks Library in Sebring.

She is survived by her son, Bruce (Barb) Vasbinder; grandsons, Aaron (Judy) Vasbinder of Tracy, CA and David (Emily) Vasbinder of Webster Groves, MO ; great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Lindsay, Trey and Willa Vasbinder; and the caring Andregg family.  She was preceded in death by her first husband of 52 years, Gail Vasbinder; daughter, Susan Vasbinder; and second husband, Merle Andregg.

We would like to express our appreciation for the regular visits by Rev. Douglas Denton of the United Methodist Church of Kent and Chaplain David Parry of Copeland Oaks which meant so much to Marty.  Also, Candy, Amy and caregivers at Crandall Medical Center, along with the Copeland Oaks caregivers and staff.
