Michael R. Divis

Michael R. Divis of Brimfield, Ohio was called home by a merciful God on April 9, 2024 after a brief illness. Mike was 71 years old.

He studied chemistry at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts, receiving a Bachelor’s of Science, then attended the University of Montana where he was awarded a Masters of Psychology. Mike moved into the then new science of Information Technology where he spent over 30 years in the field. He eventually rose to become the Senior Systems Analyst for the international investment group HabourVest Partners of Boston, Massachusetts. After commuting into Boston five days a week for twenty-five years, Mike hung up his briefcase and happily retired in 2015.

Mike and his wife Mary moved to Ohio in 2017. They settled in Brimfield where he enjoyed hiking, crossword puzzles, reading and watching both good and hilariously bad movies. Mike was an active, devout Catholic and was part of the gang of “regular suspects” who attended daily Mass throughout the area. He was also a long-time member of Mensa as part of the elite Triple Nine society.

He is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Mary E. Divis; his daughter Katherine (Divis) Heroux; his son-in-law Brandon Heroux; sisters Lynne Divis and Sharon Divis; his brother David Divis and Dave’s wife Sandy Divis. He also leaves behind five grandchildren Sara, Logan, Allianna, Michael and Evelyn.

Calling hours will be on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home, 628 West Main Street Kent, OH 44240. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mike on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 11:00AM at St. Peter of the Fields Catholic Church, 3487 Old Forge Rd. Rootstown, OH 44272. Mike will be laid to rest immediately after the Mass at the adjoining St. Peter of the Fields Cemetery.
