Muriel "Sam" Edwards

Muriel “Sam” Edwards, 76 went home to rest in the arms of the Lord on December 26, 2021, born January 4, 1945 in Wooster, OH.

Muriel graduated from John R. Buchtel High School in 1963, after which she married Joseph L Edwards March 27, 1965. She worked for Davey Compressor and Kent State before continuing on to become the “Voice” of Theodore Roosevelt High School for 40 years, greeting everyone with a smile from 1974-2014. She was an avid member of the church and a faithful servant to God. Muriel was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and “family member” to all the many faces she greeted throughout her many years at the high school.

Muriel had a special ability to touch the lives of those she came encounter with, having impacted generations of families throughout the community. Muriel also known as “Sam,” took pride in being there for others and helping all those that she could. Sam was the voice of reason, when all other voices went unheard and she did it all with such grace. Sam will forever be recognized as “The Voice of Kent Roosevelt” and her voice will forever be an echo as she travels on.

Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, Joe L Edwards, parents, LeRoy And Alyce (Follis) Larkins, siblings, Beverly Carter, LeRoy Alan and Brian F Larkins.

Left to cherish her memory are children, Todd Edwards (Kent, OH) and Bradley Edwards (Cleveland, Ohio); sister, Sandra Smith (Columbus, OH); grandchildren, Spenser (Kent, OH), Danielle (Los Angeles, CA), Miya and Xavier (Brookpark, OH); great grandchildren, Alayna and Spenser Edwards (Kent, OH). A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Family and Friends will be received Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Theodore Roosevelt High School Kent, OH at 3:00 PM with Funeral Services starting at 4:00 PM. Everyone is encouraged to wear red, black or white and to please wear a mask.
