Richard W. McBride

Richard William McBride, age 79, of Kent, died on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at home.

Richard was born February 2, 1941 in Ravenna, to Gerald and Rose (Stadler) McBride.

Lifelong resident of Kent, Kent Roosevelt High School graduate of class of 1959.  U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam era.  He was an Active member of American Legion Post 496, and VFW Post 3703, where he and his wife preformed in the drill team, where they won across many state competitions.  He was also an Avid hunter and fisherman, and loved the outdoors.  The light of his life was his grandson, Capt. Zach McBride, who he was truly proud of.  He instilled a great work ethic in this sons, that they will be forever grateful for to this day.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen McBride; sons, Richard “Buc” (Amie Kaminski) McBride, and Brian H. (Erica Starkey) McBride; grandson, Zachary McBride; brother, Butch (Dot) McBride; sister-in-law, Nancy McBride; and his best friend and dog, Thumper.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald McBride, Rose McBride, brother, Chuck McBride.

Calling hours will be held 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, June 21, 2020, at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Kimberly Warren officiating.  Inurnment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a future date.  Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, and Coleman Foundation.
