Robert D. Wingard

Robert Dean Wingard, age 90, of Kent, died on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at University Hospital of Cleveland.

Robert was born June 26, 1929 in Sugarcreek, to Charles and Detta (Studer) Wingard.  Bob graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School in 1947 and attended Kent State University and the University of Akron.  He played football while attending Kent State University.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Army Reserve and the Ohio Air National Guard retiring in 1989.  Bob was employed at Goodyear Aerospace, Admiral Equipment in Akron and Cannon USA in Mars, PA.  He loved flying helicopters, his passion and specialty in the Air Force.  He was a member of Rockton Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star.

He is survived by his children, Linda Wingard, Gary (Carolyn) Wingard and Renee (John) Hinkel; grandchildren, Daniel Hinkel and Sarah (DeAndre) DeAntoni; great-granddaughters, Rylynn DeAntoni and Brynnlee DeAntoni; sister, Janet (Dick) Rhoads.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Wingard; son, Cory Wingard; parents, Charles and Detta Wingard; sisters, Betty Lawrence and Lois "Tate Ausiello.

Calling hours will be held 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM.  Burial will follow at Standing Rock Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to American Heart Association Ohio Valley Affiliate, 5211 Madison Road, Cincinnati, OH 45227.  Services in care of Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 West Main Street, Kent, OH 44240.
