Shirley J. (Davis) Hoover

Shirley J. Hoover, age 92, of Kent, OH, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022 at her home.

Shirley was born March 24, 1930 in Kent, OH to the late, James and Irene Davis.

She was a member of the garden club, neighborhood lunch group, red hat society, and scrabble club in Kent.  She enjoyed traveling and family time.  An avid writer to the editor and had a lifelong love of elephants.

She is survived by her sons, Alan (Tammy) Hoover of Winston-Salem and Marty (Laura) Hoover of Bay Village; daughter, Cindi Welch of Key West, FL; grandchildren, Ryan Knapp, Nate Johnson, Travis Hoover, Emily (Ryan) Riddle, Nicole (Joseph) Ohman, and Emma (Samuel Coakley) Hoover; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchld.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett J. Hoover; grandson, Zachary Puckett; sister, Mildred Parker; son-in-law, Roger Welch.

Celebration of life will be held 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W Main St, Kent, Ohio 44240.  Private burial at Standing Rock Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, and Crossroad Hospice.
