Virginia Lucille (Allen) Jones

Virginia Lucille Jones, age 100, of Kent, OH, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at The Landing at Stow with family by her side.

Lucille was born on April 22, 1921 near Scammon, KS to Emmett and Bessie (Kirk) Allen.  She had two older brothers, Fred and Clarence.  Her father passed away when she was only 7 years old.

Lucille married Fred M. Jones on April 19, 1941. They enjoyed 57 blissful years of marriage together before Fred’s passing. 
She was a homemaker and member of the PEO. She volunteered at Robinson Memorial Hospital for 25 years, giving over 14,000 hours of her time. She was also a skilled seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her grandchildren.  

Lucille was a loving wife, mother, aunt and grandmother who was devoted to her family.  She was a warm and accepting person who became like everyone’s grandma.  Lucille and her husband loved the Blues and made many friends in their time spent listening to music at clubs and festivals.  She always welcomed acquaintances-new and old- with a cheerful smile and warm hug. 

Lucille lived at The Landing of Stow for the past 2 1/2 years where she was loved and accepted by all of the caring and kind staff.  She considered the Landing her second home and the loving staff like family. 

The Jones family would like to thank the many friends and neighbors who loved and cared for Lucille over the years.  We would also like to extend a special thanks to the Landing’s staff for their tremendous attention and care for Lucille- and also to the Crossroads Hospice for their compassion and guidance. 
Lucille is survived by sons, Terry (Joyce) Jones, Steve (Karyl) Jones and David Jones. She leaves 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery with Kevin O'Brien officiating.  Please send love in lieu of flowers.
