Walter H. McFarland

Walter H. McFarland, 85, of Stow, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Akron General Medical Center.  He was born in Martins Ferry, OH on April 3, 1939 to the late Milburn and Rose McFarland.  Walter was a graduate of Martins Ferry High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in finance accounting from Ohio University.  He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1957-1960.  He was employed in the health care industry for several years, serving as Chief Financial Officer and more recently as a consultant.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his sons, Adam and Clay McFarland; brother Lee McFarland and sister Eileen Kitchin.

He leaves his children, Leigh McFarland, Kathleen (Mike) Barth, Kent McFarland, Maureen McFarland and Allison (Brandon) Blackwell; grandchildren, Marley, Michael, Meghan, Theo, Logan and Kellan; and sister, Evelyn Aubrey.

In honoring his wishes, Walter will be cremated and will be laid to rest, with military honors in Louisiana.

Memorial donations may be made, in Walter’s name, to the Adam McFarland Endowed Memorial Scholarship Fund.
