William Waltz, 85, of Rootstown, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, with his family by his side. Bill was born in Brimfield on September 7, 1935 to the late James and Florence Waltz. He was a graduate of Kent State University High School, class of 1953. Bill proudly served in the United States Army and was employed by the Lawson Milk Company/ Dairy Mart for over 36 years, retiring as Grocery Distribution Manager. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Cleveland Indians and Browns. He enjoyed being outdoors, maintaining his beautiful property and trying his luck at casinos. Bill will be deeply missed and remembered always.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Waltz, son, Jeffrey Waltz, brothers-in-law, Loren McGregor and Gilbert Crock, niece, Annette Crock and nephew Daniel McGregor.
Bill is survived by his loving companion, Jeannie Kieffer, son Gregory (Laura) Waltz, grandchildren, Colt Waltz, Jordan (Greg Wheeler) Waltz and Jillian Waltz, sisters, Mary Lou McGregor, Jeanette Crock and Nancy (Jim) Fritinger. He is also survived by Jeannie’s children, Erika (Joe) Rudzik and Chad (Brooke) Kieffer, who treated Bill like a father.
Memorial services will be Monday, April 12, 2021 at 11:00 am at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W. Main Street, Kent, OH, 44240. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
